Another year, another summary of optimisation projects and plans for the next 12 months. More and more companies have successfully implemented Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Electronic Document Management (DMS), but still organisations feel that their employees in the back office (administration, accounting, HR) spend too much time transcribing data from one system to another, sending exactly the same emails to customers asking for payments.
We can do something about this. More and more organisations are getting into Business Process Robotisation (RPA – Robotic Process Automation), i.e. applications that mimic and support employees in performing the most repetitive and tedious tasks.
Immediately, thoughts like:
- This is not for us, we are too small, we simply cannot afford it.
- Even if we decided to do it, the investment will never pay off.
- We have no idea how to go about it
